I have always been a fan of Win98SE until recently I had to switch to WinXP due to some compatibility issues that could not be resolved. So I installed the OS and among other things I installed my favorite firewall - Zonealarm. Anyway this program called 'Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' came into my notice quickly when it asked for access and server rights when I logged onto the internet. First I disabled/denied both priviledges for it but then the internet just refused to work for ANY program. Then I allowed it access but didn't give it server rights. Everything is working fine now except for frequent alerts of different IPs trying to access this program. To make things short, all I want to know is what this program 'Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' is all about and why must I let it liberty of doing what it does and is there a way I can find out what its doing with the internet access?
Well after a fair bit of MSKB searching and finding nothing useful I turned to google and found this, which, by no means is a complete answer but should shed some light on the subject for ya.
