All,
Running hardware from the past and having trouble...
Fic 503+ w/AMD K6-II @ 500
256m pc100
Vanta LT 16mb AGP card
Problem; locks up on Opengl services. Running ME 4.90.3000. Tried the factory drivers from the Daytona CD and the TNT Detonator drivers Nvidia just released. Same prob...
Has DirectX8 installed.
Any thoughts? Q2, Q3 won't play - says expected Voodoo chip... But I think it should run.

Thanks in advance,

You could try installing newer OpenGL drivers. It couldn't hurt.

Have you ever had a Voodoo card installed in the system?

I have tried the new OpenGL drivers to no avail..
Yes, the OS has had an old Monster II 3d (PCI) with Viper 330 AGP. Its a wierd setup, having an external cable connecting the video cards. This system hung at random. So I got the Vanta. Running on VGA drivers, I deleted all related monster drivers and installed the Vanta. OpenGL has never worked since. Basic stuff like 3d screen savers lock the box.

I have reinstalled ME several times. No help. The diagnostic app - Sandra delux reports no Voodoo chip also and bombs out during OpenGL testing.

Any thoughts on files to add, delete, reg edits - anything to try?

Thanks for your input.

Try not simply reinstalling, but also formatting your HDD and make a new install.

That would do the trick I bet. Problem is I have no backup for the data. To Cheap I guess.

It seems like I should be able to pinpoint the fault in the registry and delete it so the next install would correct the issue with out zeroing the hard drive. Its like one line or one file of bs thats messing things up.

Does anyone get into this kind of detail before wiping the disk clean?

Thanks,
