When was the first time windows crashed on you/u messed it up. Mine was when I was about 7 or 8 and I got my comp. I didn't know much about computers then, so I saw the directory windows and went and deleted teh files I didn't like the sound of. hehe.
I was trying to load a cassette copy of Paperboy on to my Spectrum Plus. Damn tape copies never worked. At the end of loading it would reset. Ahhh the old days...
Windows: I knew nothing about PC stuff at the time and I did something in DOS with a *.*
My Dad's 486 laptop lost Windows 3.1, and I lost two layers of skin off my hide.
It was on a 286 PC, and would crash if I tried to get 3 applications running at the same time. One of the first versions of Windows. Absolutly worthless......

Actually, there was a DOS text based "Windows" like product that appeared before Microsoft ever mentioned the word Windows. It opened text based windows, and allowed you to run different applications in each window. Now, I don't believe it truly multi-tasked, once a window lost focus the application froze until focus was restored. But, you could do limited copy and paste between the applications.
Wish I could remember its name!
Here is a rumor from that time (about 1984): At one of the large trade shows, this product received much of the attention of the press. When Bill Gates was asked what he thought of the product, he responded "Microsofts Windows program will be 100% graphics oriented", and will be available in 6 months. Rumor is he then commanded that his company actually produce the Windows product, which was conceived there and then. It took about 18 months to bring out the useless Windows 1.0.
Anyone have any FACTS about this?
