Hi there ppl!I'm about to update my old PIII 450Mhz (100*4,5) with a new PIII at 866 Mhz (133*6,5). The problem is that the motherboard runs on the 440BX chipset (Gigabyte GA-BX2000) so i get a 89Mhz on the AGP. I was wondering if the 3dfx Voodoo3-3500 is gonna stand this? I had already put on it's heatsink a fan from a celeron CPU (is it enough for the 89Mhz AGP?). Has anyone of you out there tried a simmilar thing? i really could use some advise.

I can run my bh6 motherboard at 168 fsb with a 600 pIII overclocked to 752 and a v3500 with a ratio of 4:3:1 so correct me if I'm wrong but that means agp is running at 42.

NO, if you had the i815 you would be running at 84MHz (1/2x168), but since your running a BX it's at 112! I'm amazed it still works! It's your PCI that's running at 42 (1/4x168).

Back to you Tom...

Well the good thing with the PCI at this motherboard is that by tuning the Dipswith system that it has you can give all the PCI ports the frequency of 33,3Mhz. The AGP only has the standard of 2/3 ratio at the FSB speed. I also checked some sites trying this with some 2X cards (including Voodoo3-3000 and Voodoo3-3500). The results was a slight better performance, also the temprature of the processor was at the same levels when running at a 100 FSB! Some machines 3dfx used to make!?!
