So I've got a laptop that keeps freezing at random. (Not an overheating issue). About 1 sec before it freezes the fan will jump to high speed. (Again... the system is NOT running hot).
Try a reboot and it doesn't go past the windows loading screen. Punch it and beat it off the desk..... LITERALLY... it'll work again for a couple more days.....

How the frack do I even begin to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks,
Menace

Can you boot in safe mode?

Try take a look at Event Viewer, here log's of error's are stored,

Also have you checked the temperature with monitoring software. maybe the thermal paste/heatsinks dont have a good connection so the laptop may not feel hot but the chip could be.
