I just build my own PC recently.I bought a Intel D845WN motherboard and 1.5Ghz processor. When i on the power supply there is power in the motherboard as the cpu fan and display card fan is running. But i don hear any beeping sound and no display on my monitor at all. I do hear a click sound on my harddisk , LED flashing on my keyboard. but no light on my A drive. I didn't connect my CDROM. What could be wrong?? Please help!!!

Check that all parts really are firmly attached in their respectivly slots, that the graphic card is not loose.
Can you make a list of all the components you bought? (it will be much more easy to give some advice then  )

Do you have the extra 4 pin power adaptor plugged in to your motherboard? The Intel D845WN motherboards will not boot if you do not have the extra 12V 4pin power connector plugged in.

Yes , i am sure that i have connected the 2x2pin 12Volt connector to the motherboard and also the main power supply. I have connected to my mother board the 1.5Ghz processor , 256Mb (133) SDram, 40G Seagate Harddisk,A drive and CDROM. What is the minimum hardware i need to boot up the system?

powersupply
motherboard
processor
video
and ram

that is the minimum you need. Try unplugging everything and reseating it. Just hook up the minimum hard ware. Unplug your hdd & cd from your power supply also. give that a whirl and see what happens. remember don't forget to reseat everything and reset your cmos.

This time i took out everything and just assemble motherboard, processor, Ram and the vidwo card. This time i can hear 2 beeps of sound but there is still no display on my monitor . What is the meaning of the 2 beeps ? Is it normal ?

Make sure your video card is seated properly. Arrrgghh!!! I've been away from trouble shooting for two long. I believe two beeps is memory or video I can't remember. I'm thinking memory. I don't know. I'll need back up on this one.

Well, I´m not quite sure, but I think we can single out the Videocard (the beep thing), I had problems with my card and according to a "list-of-beeps" I´ve read it says that most of the time 3 beeps mean videocard problems.

With the P4 power supply, motherboard, cpu, ram, graphics card and keyboard plugged in you should be able to boot up your computer and access the bios. If you can't there is something wrong with one of the components.
I'll search out what a two beep error code is and post back.

A two beep code means your video card is not booting up.
Try a different video card.

Bios beep codes are defined starting on page 119 of the D845WN user manual. A list of the beep codes is on pages 125 and 126.

One short and one long eh?
I had one short and two long beeps, changed my vidcard and voilá, it disappeared!
Guess it is different beeps for various mobo´s?

I once got really mad at my computer and punched the monitor. Didn't do anything to the monitor but it did put a whole in the sheetrock behind it. I had to fix that relatively quick. I've always had a temper and I guess that's why I've always had to fix a bunch of crap.

A big thanks to you guys who give me all the info about the beep codes ,especially zpyrd. I have try out the video card and Ram on my freind's PC and it work without problem. When i insert back the vid card and ram to my pc , no beep this time. I guess the problem might be due to my motherboard ,or my motherboard connector is too loose ? I will bring back the board to the retailer and if possibly change a new one. Wil update u guys on the outcome :)

check if all the parts are connected firmly, even the processor. no boot means no code is being executed, BIOS isnt running. this problem is generally below display card and memory, something related to either motherboard or CPU. check if the board is touching the sideplate or any screws shorting the board.

sometimes even a IRQ conflict can cause such a problem. try putting in bare system.

Yup..finally got my pc working . This time i took out all the brass and srews from the motherboard. I install only the minimum brass and screws .I guess somehow the brass and screw shorted the motherboard. The second problem is due to my monitor. I tested the monitor in my brother's comp and it has display but not with my system. I found that the monitor will not work if it takes the input directly from the socket and will only work if it takes the power from the power supply of the casing. Anyway thanks u guys for all the help .. :)
