displays too small

I got my hands on a older ibm 770 laptop (300 mhz) . I know my way around computers but now i´m stuck. When i do something with a resolution less than 1024*768 ,that thing (for example win98 startup picture) gets smaller then the actual monitor size.
Sisoft Sandra says that i lack "hardware stretch support".

This is wery annoying and probably wery simple to solve so please help me.

It can't be solved. Unlike CRT's, on a laptop display 1024x768 means the ACTUAL screen size is 1024x768 pixels! When you set it to 800x600, you only see 800x600 of the pixels! Most newer laptops support "stretch" where the 800x600 is interprted to 1024x768, for instance. Your's does not. You must instead use custom font sizes and larger icons to see what you want.
