i was looking for a new video card, and i was comparing these 2, and the ti is 30 dollars cheaper and seems to perform close to the ultra, is this card worth getting or should i spring for the ultra?

There is no way a GF2 TI performs as well as a GeForce 2 Ultra. The GF2 TI barely performs as well as a GF 2 Pro, and not even as good as that. You would be better off looking at a GF3 TI200, but if you can't afford that, get the GF2 Ultra.

GF2 TI Basically is the TNT2 M64 of today... a bad move.

Take a look at Tom's review for the new Titanium video cards here:

I'd say the Ultra is the better of the two cards. I'm putting together a new system and will probably stick with the GTS - Don't think I need the horsepower of the Ultra or a GF3. That and the GTS costs nearly half the cost of the Ultra - It's the best price/performance ratio for me!

Between the GF3 TI and the Ultra, I'd go with the GF3 TI. If it is the same price as the Ultra, then it's a great deal because it consistently beats the Ultra in benchmarks! Check out Tom's review/benchmarks here:

The GF3 Ti200 is $179 at www.sybercom.com
If I had a choice between the Ultra and the GF3 Ti200 the gf3 Ti200 would be my choice. For me, the right choice is the GF2 GTS. It costs $79 less and is enough card for me, because I don't do a lot of 1st-person shooters.
