My windows xp and windows 98 computer do not want to file share through my router, the shared internet and printer both work however.

I wonder what would happen if everyone asked why about everything?

File and print sharing enabled? Same workgroup? Shared folder permissions set ok?

I could be mistaken but I seem to remember reading somewhere that WinXP HOME will not participate in a workgroup with Win9x systems. It needs to log into a Windows network via an NT based system (NT, 2K or XP systems, but not 98, 98SE or ME). XP Pro does not have this limitation.

i could be wrong, but i seriously doubt that limitation is in home edition only as long as two computers have ip addresses, you can get to their shared resources, user permissions aside.

you shot who in the what now?

I really really doubt that too.
