More Information

I've got an Elsa GeForce 2 GTS (AGP) in my Asus P3V4X mobo. I just put in an I/O Magic 3Dep (PCI 8Meg Trident Chipset) I put it in a PCI slot that isn't shaired with my AGP slot. I'm running 98se. Now here's the problem. When I boot my computer and go into the BIOS I get an option to set the Video BIOS boot order (or something like that) and my options are AGP then PCI or PCI and then AGP. If I set it to PCI/AGP I have no problems both monitors come up and I can set multipul display in widows. The only problem is this makes the PCI card my primary and the AGP card my secondary. So I swich the boot order to AGP/PCI. Both cards initialize but I can't set the Dual Display. In the controle panel-system-divice manager it shows the Trident card as being in conflict. In the Properties tab I get the following information

"Multipul Display Support cannot start this device. The area of memory normally used by video is in use by another program or device.

To enable Multiple Display Support, remove EMM386 or other memory manager from Config.sys and restart your computer."

I'm not running EMM386 in Config.sys. Under the resources tab it shows no conflicts on either the IRQ or any of the memory ranges. It is useing the following memory ranges. 08000000-087FFFFF 09000000-0901FFFF 08800000-08FFFFFF and 09020000-0902FFFF. I have the newest drivers for both cards. There are no other expantion cards in the machine.

I was useing this card at work on a machine with two PCI video cards and I had no problems. Any suggestions?

i would recommend windows 2000. don't have to worry about irq concflicts because win2k has 255 virtual irqs to play with.

i would update your bios to the latest one also try every slot and see what it does. But i would definitly consider switching to win2k.

good luck!
