Hey everyone..
Got a question..
I just built a 1.4 Athlon____Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3 Heatsink/Fan____Enermax 431W Power Supply___Abit KG7 Raid_____Hercules Geforce 3____1024 Kingston RAM____Creative SB Live Platinum____TDK 24/10/40 CD-RW___Linksys 10/100 ethernet card for ADSL with Alcatel Speed Touch Home ADSL/MODEM.
I have tried running Windows ME and Windows 98SE.
When running Counter Strike and Diablo 2 in ME I get lock ups.. I could not even play Counter Strike in ME.
With Window 98SE I have not gotten as far as Diablo 2 yet but atleast I can play Counter Strike for a while before it locks up.. The lock I get with 98SE is a screen freeze.. The modem still responds receive/transmits but the game freezes and I get a normal desktop pointer which will move, but I cannot get out of the game without rebooting.. ALT +TAB nore ALT+CTRL+DELETE works.. Anyone have any tips or tricks I can try.. I have Downloaded all new drivers for all mentioned devices, I have Downloaded the critical updates for WIndows and have the latest bios revision for the MOBO loaded. I am somewhat stumped. Gotta be an issue somewhere I just cannot think of where.. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The following is addition to the above.. I have been trouble shooting and come to the best I could figure. So here it is:
I have since upgraded to Windows XP. Temp are around 45 degrees celsius on processor and 36 on the board. Which kills me, I am not used to such high temps but on die max for this processor is 95 celsius. I have gutted the machine.. At this time I have only the video/netowrk card/tdk cd-rw/ two IBM 40's on RAID 0. I have narrowed down to the system runs stable with two sticks of 256 an any slots as long as one is in slot 4. If I add a third stick no matter the slot funny things start to happen. Unfortunately I dont have say two 512 sticks to test to see if it is the number if DIMMS in the machine or the amount. The motherboard counts and test all 1024. Operating systems only run smoothly with 2 DIMMS. Now the thing is it is Kingston RAM Labeled on the RAM sticks as ValueRAM*CE. Any suggestions?
Edited by john592 on 11/02/01 01:39 AM.
