"Arcade" modes in non-arcade games

It's possible that the idea for any "Game X" being an arcade game was
tossed around early in the development cycle, but I don't think that
results in the "arcade mode" you'd see on a home edition. More likely,
it's done to add a fairly inexpensive play mode to a game, in order to
increase customer interest.

"Arcade mode" doesn't necessarily mean there was a coin-op. It simply means
it's not a career mode or quest mode. It means it's a mode you just play,
not worry about statistics.
