I remember when the Playstation first came out, I ran out and bought
one for $300, and had a lot of fun with it at first. I think my
"falling out" with the playstation had less to do with polygons or 3-D,
and more to do with the advent of the internet. After all, before the
internet, the game console was the main source of entertainment.

Anyway, I have been building my Playstation library thanks to an
excellent video game store which has a huge selection. I now have about
300 Playstation games. And more and more, the playstation is looking as
OLD SCHOOL as the SNES or Genesis.

Ok, it's no secret that I don't care much for wandering around
aimlessly in 3-D worlds, but I've decided to instead dwell on the
things that I DO LIKE about the Playstation, like:

1) The playstation's graphics are very distinctive, no doubt about it.
These days, the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube graphics, IMO are not very
distinctive. The same could even be said for the dreamcast. The SMS,
NES, Super NES, Genesis, Turbografx, 3DO, and yes, even the Nintendo 64
all have very distinctive graphics. The playstation seems to be the
last great system this can be said for.

I'm having a lot of fun rediscovering all the games I didn't play when
they first came out, as well as playing the 20 or so that I DID buy
when they first came out (BAT, Cyber Sled, MK: Mythologies, Tekken,
etc...).

If there were ONE game that was popular at the same time as it was on
the 16 bit platforms, and indeed, picked up the momentum of the 16 bit
era on the Playstation, that game would have to be PRIMAL RAGE.
