Drivers for clean install

I am preparing to make an attempt to make a clean upgrade install to Windows 7. I have a question that I would like answered before I start. My data is backed up on Carbonite. My question is how do I determine what specific drivers to I need to have handy and what drivers can I transfer from my backup? Can I use DriverAgent after the install? Dumb question I know, But I have never attempted this before.

  1. Use the Windows Upgrade Adviser to check compatability.

Use the W7 Easy Transfer Wizard to save your files and settings.
To use the W7 Easy Transfer Wizard in XP:
Browse to the DVD drive on your computer and click migsetup.exe in the Support\Migwiz directory.
  2. Hi Oldog,

The Upgrade Advisor that Jonmor68 pointed you to is a great tool... I recommend using it :)

After you get the go-ahead from the Upgrade Advisor and install, Windows 7 will locate drivers for you. You can also manually run Windows Updates -

If Windows doesn't find all the drivers you need, you can visit manufacturer websites of your hardware to download the correct drivers.

    Hope this helps!
