Download Detonator Destroyer.

<A HREF="http://www.guru3d.com/detonator-destroyer/" target="_new">http://www.guru3d.com/detonator-destroyer/</A>

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs.

Remove the drivers for your card.

Run Detonator Destroyer.

Reboot.

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add New Hardware (or Add/Remove New Hardware).

Install a Display Adapter as Standard VGA.

Reboot.

Now ... install your new video card drivers. GF2 MX 200? Try the Detonator 3 12.90's.

<A HREF="http://www.reactorcritical.com/download.shtml" target="_new">http://www.reactorcritical.com/download.shtml</A>

Extract the driver-of-your-choice into a folder.

Install a Display Adapter, but this time, point to the new driver folder, and select your make and model of card.

Reboot.

Install monitor drivers, if necessary.

Set the resolution and refresh rate.

Have a beer.

If you need more help, write back. We speak Slow here.

AWWCK!

Too slow, I'm too slow. I spoke slowly too soon.

That's what I get for eatin' granola while I type. Outpaced by a newbie, solving his own problem.

Think I'll go watch the new Winona Ryder movie instead, and see if she slips a nip. A guy's gotta have a hobby!

Hey Thanks Toejam, I followed your directions and downloaded some 12.90 drivers. I couldnt locate any detonator 3 12.90 drivers but I found some listed under GF 2. I can now boot into windows insteasd of safe mode. But Windows now detects a driver problem with the graphics card. Do you have any other ideas on this one. I am happier, at least now I can get into windows without going into safe mode first. Still have a driver conflict/problem tho.

Thanks again

Okay, dude! Half the battle is won ... you've gotten into Windows without being stuck in Safe Mode.

Now ... it's time to describe the conflict to us in some detail. Post in the error message, exactly as you see it.

Next ... you mentioned being overclocked. You may have to back down the processor to the original speed, for the moment, just to rule this out as a potential reason for the problem. How about the Front Side Bus? AGP ports are finicky about being overclocked.

What was the previous video card that you had in the system?

Give us a few more system specifications. You mentioned an Abit BX6 440BX mainboard, with 128MB of Micron PC-100. What other cards do you have in the PCI slots?

In the Device Manager ... check and see if the video card is sharing an IRQ with another device ... and if so, what do you see?

Do you need help finding this information?

The error code in Device Manager under systems says "This device either not present or not working properly or does not have all drivers installed. Error code 24." Have tried choosing update driver and still comes back after reboot with same error code.
Also..Old graphics card was a Diamond Viper 8 mb AGP -- not over clocked.
Have also disabled video shadow caching, and AGP Apeture from 64 to 32. Some have said to use the 6.31 drivers but have not seen them on the web site given by TOJAM31. Only found 12.90 drivers.

I'd set the AGP aperture to half the size of the physically installed RAM in the system.

Have you installed DirectX 8.0a? And if so, before or after the video card drivers?

Are you running an AntiVirus program? If this is the case, disable it while upgrading the video card driver.

Another site for drivers:

I think that 8.0 is installed, but am not sure. If its on here it was before installing attempts on this card. Ill set the AGP apet size back to 64. I dont have any anti-virus programs on this system. WHat about this Video shadow caching, I was told to disable it. Which I did in the BIOS??? Thanks for the help and the web site addresses, I didnt know loading a new card would be this dang hard, but Im learning.....but I dont know aexactly what Im learning...LOL.
