Sounds very much like the games aren't actually built into the DVD
unit, but rather a SEPARATE controller...

....which probably means it's one of those Fami clone systems. I'd
HOPE a legitimate one, if distributed by a major company like Polaroid.

I saw one of those things somewhere...I think it might have been
Target.
Controller resembled an X-Box controller. I just took a passing
glance at it as it really didn't interest me.

Polaroid's "legitimacy" in the world of DVD players seems shaky at
best. I dunno about these in particular, but I had a Polaroid DVD/VCR
combo (which quit working last month after a little over a year) which
seemed to actually be a rebadged Apex machine. The DVD's menu setup
screens all contained the Polaroid logo, but everything else was
identical to my friend's Apex.
