Yep the best detailed unbiased in-depth review online. Good tests, even image comparisons. Everyone should go there before deciding on a new graphics card.

For those who game in Win98/WinMe on an AMD system check out this review done in English from RivaStation. The Radeon 8500 is the card to beat.

Hrmm... it would have been nice to see some real games benchmarks as well, instead of just a huge bundle of 3dmark benchmarks.

nice, cant wait to see which parts of their cards nvidia opens up to beat it though (hidden features, evil marketing, i love it, getting a gf3 in 2 days and ocing it to hell (i hope)) once they (ati) release VERY good drivers which i think wont happen (theyve spent months refining these they wanted cards to be the best... waited too long in my eye...) the 8500 will be amazing beyond belief

if in doubt blame microsoft...

Can't fault you there, Nvidia does indeed have the best drivers especially if you want to use W2k/XP. I am in no hurry since my Radeon 64 is doing everything I need right now. After a couple of months then I will decide if I am going to upgrade or not. Obviously ATI has their work cut out for them. After XP is officially released and DX8.1 and a couple set of drivers from ATI we will see. Remember it took Nvidia 6 months to release the Det 4 drivers to release the GF3 potential, prior to that the Ultra took the GF3 in a number of benchmarks, not no more.

LOL, I'd be happy if my review is soooo much better than Toms...

Toms' review is strange and confusing. he said that Athlon system incompatible with R8500, while other sites show R8500 on Athlon beat those on P4....
October 18, 2001 9:35:53 PM

I agree, it wasn't the best review I've seen on this site. Maybe Tom is getting senile? J/k
He obviously pushed it out the door, which is out of character for him. usually he is the last to get a review out.

BTW, in the future just tell us it's your review. It doesn't make you look good to be saying your own review is the best and most unbiased.

LOL, seems you totally missed the point (or I totally missed it^^)

First, I'm not Russian or whatever those reviewers are, put it simply, it's NOT my review

Secondly, I do think it's the best reviews I have come about so far, nice image comparison, matter-of-fact descriptions and analysis. etc. etc. Of course Anandtech's review is kinda good too. Tom's this time had to be the worst :(

Ok, you were being very vague, so I figured it was yours. My apologies.

BTW, in case anyone hasn't gone to see it, it's worth having a look at the three pictures of the motorcycle. If that's really the difference in quality, I'm getting a Radeon for sure :)

Err... those pics of the motorcycle weren't comparisons of Geforce3 image vs. Radeon image.

But ATI always has had excellent DVD playback... one of the few things they can hold over Nvidia. Too bad I only use my DVD drive for ripping DVDs, and my DVD player for watching them :D
