At the moment, I am in the market for a new laptop. This laptops purpose is not to replace my PC, but to be something that is portable (anything under 6lbs) and easy to look at. I want something within the 13-14.9" range, with 16-9 resolution or higher, and discrete graphics. I have customized a Sony Vaio so far, but haven't found any information on the laptops quality. Any extra information or competitors with that meet the explained specs above are recommended.
These are the specs for the Sony VAIO E laptop. Windows 8 (Probably going to revert to Windows 7).
3rd gen Intel® Core™ i5-3230M (2.60GHz / 3.20GHz with Turbo Boost) (Optional i7 upgrade for +$100)
14" LED backlit display (1600 x 900)
AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M (2GB) hybrid graphics
750GB (7200rpm) hard drive
16GB (8GB x2) DDR3-1600MHz
CD/DVD player / burner
Anything that surpasses these specs *minus the size range* is also acceptable. I would use it for moderate gaming *nothing too graphic intensive*, watching movies on the go (I rarely use disc, mainly streaming), and school work. Battery life is not 100% essential in my decision making. I normally live around a plug. Any critiques and suggestions are accepted.
The price of this laptop is $899.99 and I want to stay within the <$1,100 range.
