I'm going to purchase a laptop in couple of hours..My preference is sony..

I just shortlisted 2 laptops..

1.Sony Vaio SVE14A15FN
Comes with 2nd gen i5 2450m,4gb ram,640gb HDD,14inch 1600x 900
resolution,xLoud clear phase audio,Win 7 HP,2 usb 3.0 and 2 usb 2.0..

2. Sony vaio 14 inch,3rd gen i3 3110m,4gb ram,500gb HDD,1333 x 768 display,same audio and comes with Win-8,1 sub 3.0 and 3 usb 2.0..

I'm very much confused now whether i go for 3rd gen i3 or 2nd gen core i5..which 1 is better in performance...?

Thanks !!

i3 is more than enough for everyday usage but it come with HD4000 instead of HD3000

On the other hand the i5 has 2 USB3 so you can mover stuff from 1 USB3 drive straight to another uSB3 drive, also runs windows 7 :)

The i5 has a higher pixel density if you dig that and stronger cpu so for non-gaming pick that. For gaming take the HD4000 on the i3

Finally Bought the Sony vaio SVE14A15FN..Looks cool :)

Screen is really good..

The Windows rating looks little downgrade for 7670m graphics card..

Processor 7.0
RAM is 5.1 (even its 4 gb )
Desktop graphics is 5.9 (This seems low too )
gaming graphics 6.4
HDD is 5.9

Between how do i save my windows 7 OS and all the pre-installed applications to dvd to install later on when needed ?

And when i see the graphics properties it only shows intel HD graphics under graphics column but not radeon 7670m details..But catalyst drivers are installed and its showing in the tray...Why doesn't radeon showing in the graphics settings... ?

hmm it is likely due to the amd enduro thing where it only uses the amd in heavy workloads, try playing a game and use gpu-z to detect the amd graphics
also look in device manager

in the start menu type "system recovery" and it will pronpt you to make recovery disks

Yeah I got the recovery thing..

Sadly I have only cs 1.6 game.I installed and checked nothing happens..

CPU-Z shows Intel 3000 in graphics column. On the Device manager under display it shows radeon hd 7650g/ hd 7670m and intel 3000...GPU-Z stuck at its logo when launched,it shows 'running' in task manager(think it didn't find the graphic card and struggling to search for GPU)..

I have one more query..The Intel HD 3000 is taking 1.8gb of my RAM for graphics...Is there any way to change it to down.I think 1gb is more for it..
currently total available RAM is 2.2gb and free RAM is 1.4gb...

Just now i played Call of duty MW3..GPU-z nor CPU-z showing nothing about dedicated graphics..After running the game, the available free RAM is 9MB.Here sharable RAM is now decreased from 1.8gb to 1gb automatically after launching game..( (Damn this sharable Intel HD)
Any way to completely use only dedicated 7670M GPU...

The bios is very much different compare to desktop...It shows only
RAM and HDD info and time..
Boot priority..
Intel virtualzation..
security...
Thats it.There is no info about graphics at all.. :\

All the Images i posted above are taken when the AC adapter power is connected..But no sign of showing about radeon graphics..And i also re run the windows assessment test and it still shows the same low values...

Thanks for the video.. :)

But i really be happy if the GPU-Z shows the Info... :D

Between I got 1 more problem..A software called 'trusted installer' eating up 1gb+ of RAM all the time even when i open firefox or chrome..Any way to turn it off with effecting the windows (its windows program) ...?

do you see the switchable graphics option when right clicking? (vid about 2:30)
If you don't see that option , it's a driver issue likely

Also in windows power options, set the gpu to max performance when on AC power to see if anything changes

I have no idea what the trusted installer is

Yes i see Switchable graphics option...

I found something helpful in other forum..One person has the same issue like me.

He says its common that GPU-Z doesn't show info of switchable graphics...And the only way to use dedicated graphics is to select the application that want to run with dedicated gpu and set it to high performance like you said..So its clear now.. :)

Thanks for your kind help..:):D

Regarding trusted installer, the link you provided helped me and i found one more other site which tells how to disable it step by step..I hope windows doesn't effect after disabling it...
