I reformatted my hard drive and am trying to install XP Professional service
pack 2. When it has 34 minutes left it stops and the machine turns off. I
was shown an article about how to perform a hot fix for this problem in
service pack 1, but the instructions are long and complex, and since this is
a new install I don't know how I can perform those instructions - with no
operating system. Plus, this is sp 2 not sp 1.
Can anyone help me?
The article mentions a possible problem using a keyboard with a USB
connection. What if I unplug my keyboard during the XP installation? Or if I
plug a different serial keyboard in? (I am not sure the keyboard is USB.)

Do you have any devices other than keyboard, mouse and screen?.. if you do,
disconnect them and try again..
