I went to 3 thrifts today, and found nothing interesting as usual...except
for 2 NES protos!
I got Impossible Mission II and Venice Beach Volleyball. Sure, they couldn't
compare to say, a SMB proto, but they're the first and probably only protos
I'll ever find.
IMII comes in a plain black AVE-style case with only a handwritten
"Impossible Mission II" sticker on it. VBV comes in the same type of case,
except there are two stickers on it that say "1A9F VBAL PGM" and "8BA4
VBAL CHR". When I first say 'em, I thought they might simply have had
replacement labels due to age, but when I saw those 2 magical words "PGM"
and "CHR", my day brightened up.
Whats funny is that there are other protos that look nearly the same and
have the same PCBs, along with the same game differences:

So I take it that these are the carts that gaming magazines and the press
previewed?
