phosphor burn question

Well, seeing is how they are all CRT monitors, any static image left on
a monitor for a long enough period of time will cause a screen burn
issue. As for having a problem with leaving text on a black background,
such as a DOS prompt, I don't know.

Mono CRTs were more prone (mainly due to text on black background) but
just about any CRT will suffer burn ins one way or another. Burn in
occurs when there's stationary image for extended period of time (ie ,
insert coin, scores, and hi-score in most arcade games)

With current technology, most TVs and monitors will show very little,
if any burn in unless the brightness setting were delibrately turned
all the way up. Front and rear projection will be hit the hardest as
they have very bright output and even today you are advised from using
projection TV for game playing.
