Adavantages:
Allows OEM's to sell PC's without a add on graphics card whci lowers the total cost of the PC to the buyer. Great for business PC's. Can be a good back-up card if your external video card goes bad.

Limitations:
Graphics performance is generally far slower than newer add in graphics cards. Older onboard graphics models such as the i810e by Intel usually couldn't be disabled causing compatibility problems with add on graphics cards.

The bottom line is, if you're looking for an economical system for general office apps, an integrated chip will save you money, but if you're a gamer or use graphics-intensive apps, then you're better off spending the money for a separate card.
