Graphics upgrade

I have an IN530 motherboard with integrated 8Mb shared graphics. Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade the graphics by adding a pci card and changing jumper settings? Or do I need to get a new motherboard? Any help greatly appreciated!

I dont know if it'll work but my brother has an SIS530 mobo w/k62 400@500mhz with integrated 8mb video on it too. To upgrade to a pci videocard all i have to do is put his 128mb memory module from bank 1 to bank 3 that will disable the onboard video from sharing the memory cuz it only shares on the first bank not the 2nd or 3rd. then jus put on your pci videocard and ur good. hope this was helpful.

You could, but check the thread about the difference between AGP and PCI. You're hamstringing your system with a PCI card. Just save up the money and upgrade the board (And probably processor too)

60 FPS, 70 FPS, 80 FPS Crash!
Daylight comes and I have to go to work :frown:

bront: Thanks for the help! I don't want to make my
system any slower than it already is. Will work
on the mobo upgrade soon as I can.

Wusy : I know my boards old was looking for inexpensive
upgrades. But as was brought out by bront and yourself,
after I try Marvelii's suggestion and the thread, I'm
going to work on a new system. Maybe you can't teach
an old dog(integrated mobo)new tricks. Thanks!
