I am in the market for a new video card. my budget is between $100 and $200. I think I have narrowed my choices down to either the ATI Radeon 64 Meg DDR edition or the ATI 7550. I do a lot of hardcore 3D gaming and also audio/video creation. Which card should I buy and why? Should i buy a card other then these two?

My system config:
1.33 Ghz Atholon at 266 FSB
DFI AK-75 mother board
SB Live 5.1 X-Gamer
512Mb PC133 RAM
30 gig ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive
I am running both WinMe and Win2k

Also, I am currently using a Geforce 2 MX400 and I am happy with it. I just want something with more power and capability.

Of the two defeniently go with the 7500. The 7500 is clocked much higher than the 64mb ddr. I think it's clocked at 275/250. The 64mb ddr is probably 198/198 or 189/189 or 166/166 depending on the version. The 7500 is basaically a supercharged 64mb ddr. For if another card would be better depends on your price range.

7500 is good. the radeon 64mb ddr and the 7500 are only a few dollars apart (in the US, not sure about everywhere else). besides, the 64mb ddr is over a year old while the 7500 is barely a month old. i would get the newer card just cuz.

I don't claim to know anything about everything, I just tell people what I know.

If you can eak out an extra $10-20, you can get an 8500 OEM/LE. It's slightly clocked down from the Retail 8500 (250 vs 275), but it's still a great performer. Also, there are some Ti-200s that are aroudn that price. Both would be good choices.

60 FPS, 70 FPS, 80 FPS Crash!
Daylight comes and I have to go to work :frown:
