Gateway 733 w/512 MB. Upgraded to XP from Windows 98.
Everything working fine (more than a year) till yesterday when Disk Clean Up
said I was running out of space. I deleted some downloaded installer files,
and also 400 MB worth of backed up Windows 98 files that the upgrade process
created (that could be used to restore Windows 98). Thinking I would never
revert back to Windows 98, I deleted them.
Now I get "can not connect / server not responding" msgs when trying to
connect to my POP3 email acct using Outlook Express. Also Web works
sporadically. Have another PC in the house, it works just fine, so I know
the problem is not the ISP network connection. I can run a successful
tracert and nslookup for the mail server, and everthing appears OK. Can
anyone help ? I am mystified.
