My wife and I bought a copy of XP home upgrade, as we both had 98se on our
machines. I installed it on my computer, no problem.. then I loaded it in
her machine, and used the same key. It was after that when i realized that I
could only use it on one machine. So, off to WalMart I went, and bought
another upgrade for her machine.. now, I install her cd in, but the
installation has already started, with my cd key in there, and setup won't
complete... any ideas on how i can basically get back to the 98 desktop and
start the upgrade over? any help would be appreciated...

Given XP setup has NOT completed..... With your WIn98 boot diskette, boot pc and run "SYS C:'
The sys utility will over-write (refresh) your BOOT.INI so that you
should only have 1 choice of OS....your previous one.
Remove diskette when done. Reboot pc. When Win98 is finished loading, slip in the XP CD.
Then using XP CD, Highly suggest you first choose and run "Check System Compatibility" and let it check your hardware and programs.
A number of old programs will not run in XP. And some of your hardware may not be XP compatible.
