Im using a PC win W98 as OS. Recently, it displayed a registry error. When I restarted my system, windows restored a backup of the registry but it was the registry when I first set up Windows 98. All my programs were no longer operational, device drivers were no longer present so I had to reinstall all my programs and device drivers.

The problem came back a few days later, the very same thing happened.

I scanned the system for viruses but there was none. I run checks on my hard drive for possible errors but all were fine.

I decided to start from scratch. I Reformatted my hard drive then reinstalled Windows 98.

But the very same thing happened. The same error and the same result.

What could be wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.
