Almost all GeForce3s, and even some Ti200s, have 3.8ns memory (some Ti200s have 4ns) which means that @ 523Mhz memory it should be stable. Then why NVIDIA underclocks all the cards and sells Ti500 (default of Ti500 is 500Mhz, right?) for like $350, if Ti200 can do 520Mhz! The only difference is that Ti200s usually don't have RAM sinks and no fan. VisioTek's Xtasy To200 comes with RAM sinks on it! I bought Ti500 and my frined bought Ti200 and both run at 520Mhz! I'm going back to the store and changing to Ti200 cuz I'll have some money to buy a new CPU! NVIDIA is a great cheater!

You have to take into consideration something besides the memory. The Ti200 has a GPU clock of 175 MHz and the Ti500 has a GPU clock of 240 MHz.
I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the Ti200 GPU can only get around 200-220 range, and the Ti500 can get up to 265 range.
The Ti500 memory can also get up to around 560-580 memory. So it all depends on how much overclocking your expecting, and the stock performance you need in case your overclock doesn't work (Because all video cards don't overclock the same even the same model number)

Nvidia is not cheating you, they are selling you a product, if your ti 200 does not hit 500mhz, you cannot return it, it is not supported, this is what you are paying for, the promise and guarentee of speed, not the potential of speed.

"It's true!! Nvidia sells the Ti500 overpriced,"
How can you compare that with blatanly trying to cheat on a popular benchmark in order to sell more underpowered units to people?
How can you say its overpriced, the maker is the one who determines the selling price of the unit, if they say 300 is fair, then 300 is fair. It is not like they are overpricing compared to the OTHER gf3's on the market.

Yes, ATI DID CHEAT! No, the Radeon 8500 is not underpowered. Hardware-wise, the Radeon 8500 is far superior to even the GeForce3 Ti500. Software-wise, it's improving at an extreme rate. The price of the GeForce3 of graphics cards is all for support. nVidia is basically saying, if you pay more for our graphics cards we'll constantly support and improve them through drivers.
Anyway, my point wasn't that just nVidia is overpriced. My point is that all hardware and software has catches. It's a fact of life that we'll have to accept.

GPU speed won't give you much. Difference between 175Mhz and 265Mhz can maybe give you 5 more frame in Q3Awoa hold up just a minute, don't you look at the score comparisons when this site has its reviews? Theres considerable differences between Ti200 Geforce 3, and Ti500. Ti500 doesn't have much higher memory clock than Geforce 3, only 40 MHz, but it performs a good amount better. Because of the special memory controller in Geforce 3 cards boosting core clock helps a lot because the memory bus is very efficient.
And nvidia can't have the Ti200 and the Ti520 when Ti500 sounds so much better
