I'm looking to upgrade a freinds machine he has an IBM Aptiva Pentium III@ 500MHZ. What would be a good video card for this machine? It currently has a 8M AGP card I also want to upgrade his ram to around 256 currently it has 96M.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

I left you a list at your other post, basically GeForce2/3 and Radeons are your best bets.

i would go with the ATI 8500 if you are going to spend that much money.

How much money? The Radeon LE cost $60, the MX400 cost about the same, the LE is better. The GTS goes for ~$100. The Gainward GeForce2 Pro 450 (4.5ns) goes for $130. The Ti200 goes for around $180. The Radeon 8500 goes for around $200. The Ti500 goes for around $285. There's a big difference between the most expensive for $285, the 8500 for $200, and the LE for $60.
You refered to "that much money", you had better get the facts before spewing your opinion, $60 is not "that much money".

actualy there was enough info. i just had to make my self more clear and so do you. i was writing about the geforce3. if you're going to spend that much on a video card its better to spend another $20 and get one of the best. or $85 less. not my fault you made such a general statement. and there is no need to be so cold we are all on the same side. so you had better get the facts before spewing your opinion.

I was still on edge about you telling someone to switch from AGP to PCI.

I don't know how much it's doing for newer cards, but my test showed a PEEK performance gain of less than 7% using AGP4x instead of AGP2x on a GeForce2 GTS overclocked to Pro speeds.

Nope, especially if the graphics card has 64MB RAM.

Tested on a way overclocked GeForce 2 GTS, newer cards should use a little more bandwidth.
