Hi dudes(and dudettes...),
I've got this pretty good system (p3-450, 640MB RAM,pinnacle SDV firewire card, dvd decoder card REALmagic hollywood plus, and a nvidia TNT2 16MB AGP card).
I've got some money to spend, but I don't think I'll go for a new CPU, as I don't think I'll get much out of it..., however, I'm thinking about replacing the tnt2-16MB AGP with a GEForce2.
Finally: MY QUESTION: if I take a gef2-64MB,
1 - can I expect major difference in e.g. Halflife and/or Digital Video edting?
2 - I understand it'll go better/faster (?), but will I really notice it, I mean is it worth the money?
3 - will the dvd decoder card become obsolete?
4 - should I check the above mentioned dvd decoding in the specs of the new card?
5 - geforce 3? pretty expensive, even 2nd hand, worth it in my caseThanks a lot!!!!

I think your motherboard has only an AGP 2x port, so that will reduce the performance of faster 4x cards tremendously, but you still will see some difference compared to the old TNT2.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

Your main bottleneck is your CPU although your TNT2 is also a bottleneck. Digital Video Editing requires a very fast 1GHz+ CPU to be smooth.
