I'm needing a new card, And am wondering these products compare against each other.
I'm leaning toward the 7500 retail.
Is it fair to say that the ti500 and the 8500 are roughly the same, and that the 7500 would not be as good overall as the GF3 ti200, but close in overall performance?
I want tv/o and good DVD.
The 7500 retail can be had for $200 canadian, but the cheapest ti200 i've seen is the MSI at $299.
Or how about the GF2 ti for $220??
It's for a K7S5A and 1600xp and a semi-tight budget..

Go for the radeon 7500. You WON'T be dissapointed. The 7500 might be a little slower.

The Radeon 7500 is faster than the GeForce2 Ti, but slower than the GeForce3 Ti200. However, the Radeon 7500 has more features than both.

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor

The gf2 ti and the 7500 are roughly equal, If I were you I would get the 3 ti 200, thats a good price on a good card.

I thought the 7500 was nothing but a pumped up radeon (more Geforce2TI stage technology). The hydravision is nice but what other features are you talking about?
The 7500 has no programmable TnL and generally a 20% decrease of performance going from a TI200 to 7500.

I would probably buy a 8500 over a TI500 but get a TI200 over a 7500. To bad I'm a stubborn consumer that won't buy another ATI because ATI is on my revenger list for the poor software I have to live with with my tv tuner.
I have to use DScaler just to get it to work decently :-/

not cool!

I dunno where in Canada you found these prices but they are SWEET!
The lowest Radeon 7500 I can find here iis 269$ Retail!
And even the MSI GF3 Ti200 is lower than the normal Tis!
I can find a GF3 Ti200 Asus at 379$.
Lucky bastards... :)

Well I picked up the 7500 retail for $200.
When I origionally budgeted to build this new box, I had only planned on an mx400, and I've also spent more on other(better) components than I had planned, so the 7500 or a GF2 were the only choices.
The wife doesn't know about the budget changes yet.....

So true. Almost enough stuff to make me want one at one time. The DVD decoding is cool part. I just wish the hardware delacing that the all in wonder 8500 has when you use its tv tuner worked the same if you used a tv wonder and 8500 together.

Has everyone forgotten about dual monitor support, lol. ATI kills them for that simple reason. Sure you can come back and say, "I don't need dual monitor support!". Or, "Who needs 2 monitors". Try it and you will fall in love FAST!!!!

Just my 50 cents worth...

ATI's DVD playback is the best ever, though the DVD player is poorly desighed, getting a better DVD player(Powerdvd is cool)can be more enjoyable. Dual Monitor? I'll plugin my old goodie Blade3D, not bad for a second output. Seriously, Blade3D's DVD decoding is good consider the price, much better than the god damn it Nvidia and no worse than ATI.

Once I used my i386/34+i387 and 4 MB Ram for CAD...
