Laptop will not boot (Windows XP) HELP!

Hello, Thank you for the reply!
I can reach set-up and have highlighted CD as the boot drive. But I can
only reach the dos screen by getting into set-up cntrl/alt/del. esc.
F2.
Then when exiting the dos screen appears and it finds the CD drive then
the message appears again cannot_find_string ?
