Well, before replacing my GeForce2MX-400 with a Radeon 8500 I ran the 3DMark2001 benchmark. I got 3659 on my overclocked GeForce2MX-400 an a 1.33GHz Athlon. I'm curious, what do people usually get with a Geforce2 MX?

BTW, this is at the default 1024*768*32-bits. I'm running my GeForce2MX-400 at 260Mhz/260MHz.

My GeForce2 MX 32MB at 220/205 MHz has a score around 3300 (stupid prog don't want to save the score) at the default settings. I've a Athlon Tbird 1,4 GHz and 512 MB DDR RAM.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

ohhh, nice, according to Madonion, my GeForce2MX-400 is faster than the average GeForce2GTS/Pro/TI.

Lets see some Radeon 8500 scores on here, i'm about to purchase one..finally those are pretty impressive numbers for your mx card though

I don't actually have the Radeon 8500 with me right now, but it's on it's way.

According to Madonion, a Radeon 8500 scores 7281 on average on a 1.33GHz Athlon.

One other question, why is it that 3DMark2000 and 2001 sample games look soooooooooo much better than any retail games that are out?

so I was right!!! Way back in June or July, I was saying that SDRAM is more efficient than DDR RAM! Everyone disagreed. I said that my GeForce2MX with memory running at 260MHz could outrun a GeForce2GTS with DDR RAM at 333MHz effective. Everyone disagreed. Using that ratio, a GeForce2MX clocked at 300MHz could outrun a GeForce2 Ultra. Now my question is why isn't nVidia using high-performance SDRAM rather than lower clocked DDR RAM? Which would be cheaper to make? Fast SDRAM or Slow DDR RAM? If my GeForce2 MX had a programmable T&L engine and pixel shaders then if I ran it at 333MHz, it could probably beat a GeForce3 Ti500. Well, why isn't nVidia doing that? But then you'd need 3ns RAM.

Crikey !!
hmmm interesting that ! I would never have thought it true but your score is quite impressive. Alothough your Processor will boost it a heck of alot I mean I am only running a PIII 866.

Perhaps. BTW, I'm running the latest official nVidia drivers, 23.11.

Did you not check me comparison link ?

I am running the same drivers. They were a big improvement over the last ones for me :)

Hmm AMD man have you got an account ? if yes I dunno whats wrong it works for me :/

I have RDRAM with my PIII :/  is so bloody exspensive !!

ohh, it works now. I don't know why it wasn't working before. I'm beating you in everything except Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) and DOT3 Bump Mapping.

Umm, how do I get the url with my scores to give to you?

Wow, pr497, I just realized that your score is awful for the Radeon 8500!!! That just sucks!!! On an Athlon, you'd be getting around 1000 points more.

EXACTLY...it's mostly the slow ram though...i've seen systems that get over 8000 with the same specs. as my computer but with rambus ram.

Ok AMD Dude go to your project manager select the one you wanna show me and click the box next to saying PUB (As in Publish) Update and the URL should be shown below

Hmmm I need a better PC

hmm nice

I would say that a majority of that is your CPU though :/  I mean its at least 2 times better than my Intel peice of crap.

Would be better if I had a simular spec processor :(  And I am also handicapped by XP

A CPU can only affect frame rates if the bottleneck is the CPU not the graphics card. 90% of the tests done by 3DMark2001 are limited by the graphics card and not the CPU. And besides, I've overclocked my GeForce2MX to 260/260. A regular GeForce2MX is 175/166 and a GeForce2MX-400 is normally 200/166. Mine came at 200/200 and 4ns memory. I just added a PCI slot fan to cool the core and the RAM is hardly beyond spec.

wow, that's a difference of about 2000 points between an SDRAM P4 and an RDRAM P4.

Yeah, a P4 will not run with SDRAM, am interested to see how they do with DDR. You will like your Radeon, very pretty graphics.Remember you will need DX 8.1 & latest drivers.Get them at www.rage3d.com.

This is not entirely true amdman, a videocard can be asissted by the cpu and the faster your cpu the better the score, the average score for a gf2 pro may be on an average of a 1ghz p3 explaining how your mx400 was able to do so well.

No, in Madonion, they give you the average score for people with the same processor. So I'm scoring higher than someone with a GeForce2 Pro and a 1.33GHz Athlon.

now you see ehy an SDRAM and P4 is a horribly bad idea (but i think you already knew that).

I scored 3442 on my Visiontek GTS-V (V for value) at 200/340 (stock is 175/286). That's with a Duron at 1007mhz, 106mhz FSB.

<A HREF="http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2077624" target="_new">http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2077624&l...;/A>

There were no more than 5 scores at Madonion by MX/MX-400 boards paired with Durons that bettered my GTS-V's score so I'm not sorry that I chose it over an MX-400. Besides, it only cost $65 new.
