I want to restore my pc to an earlier set up but when I go to system restore
there are not any previous restore points there. I have system restore set
up. Can anyone tell me where these restore points may have disappeared to?

Check at Kelly's http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm Select S and
scroll to System Restore.
