Hello out there,
on www.ati.com there is a Radeon8800 with 128MB announced.
Is this card suitable for games or is it only for developping games, as stated on ati.com?
All specs are the same as the 8500 except for the ram!
So it should be good for playing too.
Let me say it like this: Are there benefits from the 128MB ram over the 64MB version?
Thanks for your replies!

To be honest I don't really have a clue :o ) but I think that at the moment no games require that much memory from the graphics card !

Maybe its a sign of the future... who knows
We will have to wait and see what the benchmarks for the card are like for anything concrete

At current moment, 128MB of memory will make no difference. I assume this 8800 may be their pro version or something, and that would mean it sucks in D3D, but accelarates in OGL.

I think that this card was deisgned for workstations so the architecture is slightly different from "gaming" cards... But if you want to spend the money for a 128 MB card, then be my guest.

Rumors say that GeForce4 will come with 128MB onboard.
If there are no benefits, why is the graphicsram steadily increasing?
I guess we will really have to wait until first benchmarks result are published. I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to seeing them.

Ok, dude current games won't use the 128MB. If you get an R8800, know that in games w/ D3D, performance will be lower.
