hello,

i have a ATI AIW All in Wonder Radeon graphic card

but i have a big hardware probleme to solve

a microchip is detached from the card, unsoldered and i have to solder it again
it is just 0.5 centimeter long and it has 8 pins to solder them again

it is, in fact a CMS component that is requiered precise micro-solder of O.5 millimeter

i have all the tools to solder this microchip again to the graphic card but i have never done this before

and i can't do a mistake involving a definitive breaking of my graphic card

also i need some advices to help me solder correctly since the first time without any mistake

maybe i have to peek up the rest of solder on the graphic card first, to clean it, ... ?

what is the exact procedure to solder a CMS micro-component ?

my tools are:

CMS solder 0.45 millimeter
pan 0.5 millimeter
unsolder band of 1.5 millimeter
micro iron solder of 14 Watts
a loupe X9

someone can help me ?

thanks a lot for everyone who can help me

My advice is to find someone more experienced to do it. Soldering is purely experience, there aren't really any "tricks" to doing it well.

Ditto. You can't "tell" someone how to do it.

If you have a very steady hand and a needle point solder iron, first make sure the pins are lined up and straight, then touch ech one with the solder gun while holding the chip in place. I don't have a lot of experience, but I do stuff like this every so often. So if your a fast learner, you shouldn't have a problem. Otherwise, get some practice first.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
