Subject: Nvidia or ATI

I am about to buy a new Dell Inspiron 8100 Laptop.
The options that they give for the video cards are as follows:
- 32MB DDR 4X AGP NVIDIA GeForce2 Go™Vid
- 16MB DDR 4X AGP NVIDIA GeForce2 Go™Vid &
- 64MB 4X AGP ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
Which one is the better choice????
Also the offer a 15" super xga display,
or a 15" Ultra xga display
the sxga has a Luminance of 140 cd/m² , and the Uxga is 150cd/m²
once again, WHICH IS BETTER?!?!?!?
thanks

This is all the info that I found on their site:
15" SXGA : Native Res 1400x1050 (goes up to 1600)
Meagapixels: 1.47; Luminance: 150cd
Response time: 50ms
15" UXGA : Native Res 1600x1200
Meagapixels: 1.92; Luminance: 140cd
Response time: 40ms

Would the difference in luminance be noticeable???
would it make a big difference in how the screens 'looks'???

I still need help with the video cards though....

UXGA is better then.

As far as the chip goes, I would lean towards the Radeon simply because of the memory increase. I would guess they would be a similar price. If it's the same type of chip as a non-mobile Radeon 7500, then it should blow the older Geforce 2Go away, as that's based on the origional Geforce 2 GTS.

I believe UXGA is a better technology so I'd have to recomend that.
And if the ATI mobile 7500 isn't crippled (when compared to the desktop version) then it probably performs better than the Geforce 2 Go.
Also consider the operating system you want to run though, because you want to make sure you have good driver support.

I am also about to purchase an Inspiron 8100. I've done my research though:

The ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 kicks the GeForce 2 Go round the block.

take a look at the figures at:

http://www.inqst.com/articles/radeon/0826main.htm

The CPU only runs at about 15% (avg) when decoding DVD with the Radeon, wheras with the GF2Go, its around 35%. It literally doubles the performance in Q3 Demo 1 & 2, gives 95% more performance in 3DMark 2001, and 93% in 3DWinMark 2001.

The 15" UXGA TFT LCD screen is the way to go as vs the SXGA, the SXGA native res. is 1400x1050, and the UXGA is 1600x1200.
