Hello all. I have a Compaq S6220WM PC with XP/SP2. A message popped up saying
I had this virus. When the message was closed out, The monitor went blank
and now the only thing that comes up says "NLTDR is missing. Press
Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I have tried to do a restoration but nothing works.
We have checked it on a slave set-up and there is nothing on the hard disk
but the
"Windows" folder. What happened here?

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. However,I have McAfee antivirus. It
works. I do not have a Compaq Recovery CD and can't get one. Even the System
Recovery does not work. Does ANYONE have an answer as to WHAT happened?

Whatever nasty virus infected your computer, it apparently did its nasty deed
and "hosed" your computer. You'll need to start over from scratch by
and perform a "clean install".

You need to contact Compaq/HP and order the Recovery CDs.

If it worked, then you would not have this virus!

McAfee is often too late with virus updates. If you are a paying client, too
bad, if you have a temporary free membership, delete McAfee and get
the below free anti-virus app, it is excellent.
