Does anyone know if the GeForce 3 supports AGP Fast Writes? My BIOS has a setting for this to be enable, but I can't find info from nVidia if the card does indeed support Fast Writes.

Thanks, Rob.

Yes it supports fast writes but i advise against it. It will make your system very unstable. The increase in performance is about 5%.

If it supports Fast Writes, why would it make my system unstable?? Isn't that the point of having the option in the BIOS?

Its something to do with how the system runs once its enabled. I think that it can lead to instability, but it will not necessarly do so.
I have always had fast writes enabled on my system by default, and I am not sure how to turn it off... never noticed any obvious instability (had this setup for over a year now)

But the point is it will not give you that much increase in performance at all, so if you don't need it do not bother !

Fast Writes enables the CPU to send data directly to the GPU. While it is faster, is tends to crash your system. Ofcourse in some pcs it might work ok, but in mine it will crash the apps i am running quite often.
