Hey Everyone. I have a Dell Precision 330 Workstation, 1.8GHz, 1G RAM, 850Chipset (updated drivers), Win XP Pro. My All in Wonder Radeon has been working 5 months with no probs. Today I bought and AIW Radeon 8500DV and attempted to install it. Uninstalled all old drivers, etc., installed new card, turned on PC, and it appeared to hang after BIOS post. Restarted three times and received a message after post referring to Checkpoint [CNic}. After another reset, i called ATI. The PC hung at the same spot, but 15 minutes into the call, Windows started normally. ATI hasn't been any help at all. They insist its a motherboard issue or a memory issue or a WinXP issue; their card is perfectly fine. Can anyone help?

Thanks!!
Rich

Hmm, I don't know how relevant this is but try double checking that the ram is seated properly and that they are not loose. Also, do u happen to have a creative sound card like sb live or audigy? Also it might be a good idea to double check all the connections (ide, hsf etc).

BTW: 1.8mhz? hehhehehee

 Since we cannot get what we like, let us like what we can get

Ok, I found my problem tonight. ATI and Dell have been no help. Seems the ATI 1394 (DV) chip is conflicting with the Dell onboard NIC. If you disable the NIC in the PC's BIOS setup, the PC boots fine. I need the NIC for my cable modem, so I had to disable the 1394 interface on the ATI card until Dell (hopefully) releases a BIOS upgrade. TO disable the DV on the ATI card, look for the switch block on the lower part of the right half of the card. switch 1 is on (up) switch 2 is off (down). Move switch 1 off (down) and then fire up the PC. For your info, all Dell could tell me was that they can't help me because ATI All In Wonder cards are not on their compatibility list of video cards for the 330. I've been using All In Wonder cards since the AIW128 with NO issues!!! Go figure!
