depends on who you ask. for lots of people, it runs fine. for others, not so fine. it all depends on what hardware you have and your ability with computers.
rage3d.com has a great forum for Radeon help, so if you do get one, be sure to check it out. they also have tweaks and lots of info about getting the card to run faster.

where oh where have all the intel's gone?

the R8500 works fine on my system.
i dont play quake 3 or any graphics intensive game.
i only play counterstrike and a little UT on my computer and it works fine.
ati should be coming out with updated drivers for the R8500 soon.
unless you're a person that gets anal when you get 5-10 less fps...then the R8500 should be fine.

- unless you're someone who gets anal when they drop 7-10 FPS... -

Man... remind me to always upgrade my framerates because I hate the idea of tweaking something, losing frames, and then getting someone trying to take me up the ass...

I plugged my ram into my motherboard, but unplugged it when I smelled cooked mutton.

Hey, when your games are only running at 30FPS, 7-10 FPS really means something!!!!

what the heck are you running that only gets 30FPS? might want to turn down the resolution or possibly upgrade some parts.

i get so sick of benchmarks and QuakeIII. first, QuakeIII is outdated big time and an antique when it comes to PC games. in fact, it's not even that great, in my opinion. i much prefer to play many other FPS over QuakeIII.
second, they are getting 200+ frames and crap like that. who the hell needs 200 frames per second? sheesh. then they start doing comparisons between a GeForce3 Ti500 getting 225 frames and a Radeon8500 getting only 221 frames. talk about anal...

...am i ranting again?
