I have an Asus V8200 GF3. I have been having a few problems with the fan on it, I think due to the dust in the case. What I was wondering was, is the HSF actually glued onto the chip? It has pins in the board, but does anybody know if there is epoxy on the chip also? And how does one go about removing those pins?

If you turn over the board the pins should be visable petruding through the back. Squeezing the sides of the pins together causes them to pop out as they are usually spring loaded.

Normally with pins there is just some sort of silica thermal paste that isn't adehesive and the HSF should come straight off.

If there is no movement in the HSF at all it is stuck on, and you may have to prize it off with a screwdriver. But this is pretty easy and there are guides that can be found on the web if you are unsure.
