I learned this morning that Ron Santo passed away at the age of 70. For any Cubs fans out there (obviously, I'm, one of them), you know who he was. For those not in the know, he was the Cubs third baseman from 1960-1973 and then started broadcasting on WGN Radio for the team in 1990. He was one heck of a player, an amusing presence in the broadcast booth, and a die-hard Cubs fan to the end. In other words, a true Cubs' legend. Along with many others, I think he should have made the Hall of Fame, as his stats are amongst the best for third baseman in MLB history. He said that he didn't want to be posthumously inducted, but I suspect it'll happen eventually. He'll be missed.
