We've taken great pains to ensure the transition to the new platform isn't too bumpy, and that most of your stuff is right where you remember leaving it. We did, however, want to address a lot of the issues that users reported over the years with usability, so we made some changes. Please see below for a brief outline of each:

Navigation
Navigational elements and aesthetic have been improved to make the community easier to browse, and we've included new usability features that have been on the wish list for a long time. You may notice load times have been sped up as a result.

Categories
Forum subcategories have been revamped and many of the older, obsolete categories have been retired. As a result of the new tag system, you'll see new categories and subcategories pop up from time to time with greater frequency than before.

Ads
The number and intensity of the site-supporting advertising has been reduced to improve user experience for registered, logged-in users. Ads will no longer appear in the text of navigational areas and user information.

We trust you will enjoy these upgrades and improvements to the forum, and if you have any questions, comments or feedback, please reply to this thread with your thoughts.

I take it that it's easier to add and remove categories now, without having a developer carefully work their magic to make it happen without a system meltdown? :)
