Can anyone tell me what the "LE" suffix means on a Radeon card? still has 64MB but I`m a bit worried in case it`s vastly inferior to others.

LE is the OEM version of the card. You can check the Press Release section at ATI.com to confer.

But beware. The OEMs ship at lower clock speeds for the GPU and RAM than the retail versions. I think the speeds are about the same as the 8500DV and that one doesn't seem much slower in most benchmarks.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your replies.
As Corri says it`s the OEM Version of the 8500 (64MB DDR) I saw it in another ad.
Sells for about £200 Sterling so I will have a look at Ati`s homepage and see if I can find some benchmarks too.
Thanks again.

You can safely do the OEM to Retail bios update. It will increase your clock from 250/250 to 275/275. It will also increase the voltages to run stable at that speed. This is better for overclocking.

AEboy, your clueless. Pay attention more and you might actually learn something.

The 32mb DDR (Radeon v1.0) is below both the 7500 and 8500

OK, while the BIOS update may be possible, I have doubts about how safe it is. The OEM versions do have the same GPU but the clock speeds are slower for a reason. They've got cheaper, slower RAM than the retail versions (same goes for the 8500DV).

The slowdown is barely noticeable (check out some bechmaks w/ the 8500DV) so whether the overclock is worth voiding your warranty is up to you.
