Downloaded Kraisoft's 'Trash Killer 2' freeware a while ago and it is
definitely worth what I paid for it.

It looked promising at first, like a fairly addictive, good old shoot 'em
up, but trouble is, it is jerky / screen image keeps freezing, there is no
smoothness to the gaming experience.

OK so I 'only' have an AMD Duron 1600 processor with 512 MB Ram and a UDMA
100 hard disk, but I remember playing pretty much the same game in 1990, on
an Atari ST with a then very decent 70 Hz screen, albeit in black & white.
The Atari had 1 MB Ram (compared to my current 512) and in terms of raw MIPS
performance the Duron outperforms the 15 year old Atari processor by several
hundredfold also I would have thought.

I've checked my PC with Sisoft Sandra and everything works just fine, disk
performance, memory timings etc. everything working fine as far as a low
budget 'trailing egde' PC goes.

So, why is the gaming experience so very, very sh1te ???

Is it maybe down to poor programming? Needless read / writes to the hard
disk, that sort of thing?

My PC ought to be able to run the programme in Ram many times over I would
have thought.

Any ideas how to speed this Kraisoft program up to the level of 15 year old
Atari shareware?
