I haven't bought a video card in years. I'm finding out that all the graphic board companies I'm familiar with have gone away! (I'm an old retired fart)

Who are the better board manufacturing companies now and who should you stay away from?? I want a reputable company who will stand behind their guarantees. I have noticed that on Ebay, people are selling generic boards with no manufacturer listed!

ASUS? ATI? INNO3D? VISIONTEK? eVGA? PixelView? Creative Labs? XTex48? Abit? GainWard? GAAAAAAA!

Right now I'm leaning towards an AGP 4X board with the Nvidia Gforce2 Pro or TI chipset with 64MB in the $100 price range. Don't know if I want DDR or not?? I'm getting an Abit MX7 board with a 1.3G P4.

The geforce range is good from Nvidia - thats what I'm after. go for the Geforce2 MX - pretty good card I've been told.

Also the Ati Radeon 8500 is apparently smart - Pm rcf84 for more info on that one.

Ok reread my post - The Geforce 2 Mx is a mid range card that is still competetive in many ways. It isn't a top of the range jobijob. If you want top wack go for the Geforce 3 range - but your looking at a much higher price. The ATI I havn't a clue about the price of those but the Geforce 2mx is prolly less than $100 now. Depends how much you want to spend really.

Let us know more info - ie - what you want it for, how much you want to spend - how long before you intend to upgrade again if ever.

For $165, you can get a Gainward GeForce 3 Ti200 with TV-out. Great card (very overclockable with 4ns RAM).

Sorry, find it at <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com" target="_new">Newegg</A>.

If warranty backup is what you're looking for, I've heard great things about ATI. A buddy of mine got a DOA board once and they put a new one one his doorstep with a week, free of hassle!

Their new Radeon 8500 is a great card if you're going for higher end.

NewEgg.com is a great place to buy too.

I think that what mike-n-katy is asking is which manufacturer stands behind their products. IE: which gives the best tech support. I have no idea myself.

i don't think he's quite asking what chipset to get or which grade chipset(i.e. mx, pro). i think he's asking what company. If that is so then i would recomend Asus, good quality and performance. I don't have much experience with other brands, maybe someone else has a preference other than asus, but that's my two cents.
