I upgraded to XP a little bit ago and have not had sound working since. I
have troubleshooted EVERYTHING!! Only to find that the device manager says
the card is enabled, but cannot start (code 10). I have unistalled the sound
card and the software MANY times........is my only option to
uninstall/reinstall XP? I was going to just get a new sound card, but I have
an onboard sound card now and dont know if it would even work, if this is an
XP issue..........PLEASE let me know SOON I am in school and the software I
need to install wont because of no sound card.

Thank you,

The software and drivers for you card may not be compatable with XP, In
device Manager, rt click, properties, update driver, allow the update to look
online... Also, check with the manufacturer online to see if there are any
driver updates... 95, 98, and NT drivers won't work with XP. If it's a built
in sound card you may have to go to your computer manufacturers website for
the driver update.
Search, name of your computer, Once on the site, go to customer service or
driver updates...
Often times the software disks that come with computers are for the OS they
came with and not compatable with XP...
Hope this helps...
