Hi,
I've a specific question to compare the Push to Talk (PTT) service
developed by Open Mobile Alliance (http://www.openmobilealliance.org)
with iDEN technology.

In a PTT half-duplex call involving 3 users (UserA talking; UserB &
User C are listening and are within the same cell), there will be a
seperate radio channel to carry voice packetes to UserB and UserC.

When we take the same scenario as mentioned in the previous paragraph
for an iDEN network, will there be a seperate radio channel to UserB &
UserC?

-Regards
Vinoth

If I read it right I think you can in the group call this way, we use it in
our Nextel we got 6 user's we all got the same fleet number so we all can
talk to whole fleet. now if I need to keep it within 3 user's I program the
sub fleet number to just those three phone and just those three got there
own channel. but we try not to use group call feature to much because it can
get little expensive at time. my explanation might be wrong in term wise but
I hope I got the idea right

iDEN: You would use 3 slots (1/2 a 6:1 channel) for a 3 person DC
conversation on the same cell site. When users are on different cells
I don't know if the packets are multicast over the back haul or not.

Openmobile: I have no idea :)
